Seedlings of Jkf. Kingfisher Blossom (which is Jkf. Appleblossom 'H&R' x Cattleya Claesiana flamea 'Kingfisher').
Jkf. Appleblossom is a fantastic hybrid - one of my favourites, and very popular. Lots of well presented, fragrant flowers. But for whatever reason, it's a reluctant parent. I've tried any number of crosses with it, without success. A number of other breeders that I've talked to about it said 'Don't even bother trying, it doesn't breed!'
But I couldn't help myself, and kept having a crack. This is the result - a cross with Cattleya Claesiana 'Kingfisher'. Both parents are good and robust plants, and the Claesiana is quick to flower. We've already flowered a couple of these seedlings, and registered it as Jkf. Kingfisher Blossom. We're very happy with the results so far.
First photo shows the parents. 2nd and 3rd photos show the seedlings for sale. They're established in 80mm pots.
