This is an unusual looking species from the broader Cattleya alliance, native to Central America, Venezuela, Columbia, the Caribbean islands, and Florida. It's the national orchid of Belize. It's easy to grow, and produces very long-lasting flowers. It likes part shade, but is tolerant of a very wide range of conditions. They're noteworthy for their dark, almost black hood, and trailing thin green petals.
Seedlings are established in 80mm pots.
